Increasing infant mortality rate, especially in African and Asian nations, has been a matter of concern for years now. Addressing the gravity of the predicament, designer Michael Geedrick, a student of Queensland University of Technology, has developed a monitoring device hailed “BubLuv” to help parents reduce the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or SIDS amongst infants. Capable of measuring the carbon dioxide and oxygen concentrations of the child, during the sleep cycles of the infants, the concept device interprets the data and forwards it to the parents (via gentle glowing signals) so they would be aware of the exact situation of their unborn baby. Everything about the BubLuv seems perfect, only if the device is affordable for the parents of the third world nations.
