Stairs or staircases are an essential part of any home or office, as they may simply make or break the décor of contemporary apartments, other than making a way for residents between two floors. The brainchild of designer Aaron Tang, the “Wall Stairs” is an innovative staircase that featuring mechanical hinges and pistons easily folds flush up against a wall to expand a lower space and to access to an upper floor. The wall stairs allow the users to open or close the staircase from upstairs or downstairs with minimum fuss, thanks to the modern mechanics, while the piston implants the stairs back into the wall. In short, the staircase (as perceived by the designer) is “a redefined door that allows passage to another environment when open, and prohibits passage (literally) when closed.”
