Modern means of entertainment, including cinema and video games, have dealt a severe blow to the traditional culture and folklore breathing its last breath. Reincarnating ancient culture, the “1001 Hotel” is a landmark structure that draws inspiration from folklore and houses rooms based on different fairy tales. Accommodating 1001 hotel rooms (each telling a separate tale), and a leisure and conference center in 77 circular floors held together by an external tube structure, the hotel stands tall (525m) on 12 sculptural posts that are attached together by circular bracings. Accessed by an underground light-rail, zeppelin or on camel-back, the 1001 Hotel is wrapped in a double skin glass facade with integrated LED lights that not only illuminate the tower but also protect it from harmful sun rays, while making the most of natural light and ventilation through its porous facades. Located around three different voids designed to twist on each floor, the hotel rooms feature stunning interiors based on Arabian motives and fairy tales.
