With a lack of ample space for any architecture or structure, being multipurpose is the key factor in modern design. Going according to the requirements, the designer firm Aaarchitecten BV, in coloration with UQ Design, has designed a space-saving yet functional bicycle parking called “Bikes and Chill” that integrates public seating system. The design that received first prize in the poly products competition is made from fiber reinforced composite material. The outer area of the curved bench can be used as public seating whereas the inner hollow space can accommodate bicycles while relaxing on the bench. To enhance its uniformity, separate components are also associated with the bike bench so as to form a complete curving pattern. The project that cherishes the stylish-but-unique theme is a site-specific project destined for The Hague central station, Netherlands will be a good pick for open spaces like schools and parks.
