Designed by the Bangkok-based Aesthetic Architects GO Group, known for its innovative urban design and sustainable constructions worldwide, a new cactus may soon bloom in the barren deserts of Doha, Qatar. Drawing inspiration from the ability of cacti to flourish in the desert, the cactus-shaped building will be the new office complex for the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning. The new structure not just boasts a unique (huge cactus-shaped) design, but it’ll also fulfill most of its power requirements that will help in reducing the carbon footprint of the nation. Adhering to the global “Green Building” standards, the structure will feature a botanic dome within, while the sunshade panels will wrap and unwrap sporadically according to the heat of the sun. The cactus-shaped building will be a part of multi-billion dollar Green Building project progressing at Energy City Qatar (ECQ).
