Amending electricity and water wastage

amend 1
With rapidly increasing population, especially urban, water and electricity have become major concerns for administrations all across the world. Though it’s not possible to check the population within days, we definitely can check the wastage of water as well as electricity by responsible and smart usage. And the best ways to motivate users for conserving water and electricity are either rewards or penalties. The brainchild of designer Mehek Sharma, “Amend” is an innovative device, issued to users by the government, which measures the monthly water and electricity consumption. If users consume less water and electricity than the allotted quota, they’ll get a Green Card that they can use as a discount card in any government aided service like Cottage Industry products, Metro services, etc. In case users consume (or waste) more water and electricity, they’ll get negative Green Points, and will be fined for that. The electricity and water meter also features a plant that will keep reminding users of their duties and responsibilities toward the environment. The Amend seems to be an interesting concept, but it could only see the light if governments too pay attention toward the growing water and electricity concerns and take some stringent steps in this direction.
