British motorcar designer George Carwardine took inspiration from the human elbow joint to design the original Anglepoise lamp in 1933. More than seven decades later, designer Anthony Dickens recreates this classical lamp albeit with a twist. It is poised at fifty degrees, and casts a wonderful spell of the era gone by. Using polycarbonate, Dickens has fashioned a single piece molding that takes in a 25-watt globe bulb. The unique angle and half-cup design looks incomplete yet intact. Sitting pretty on your ornate workstation, this lamp can give you company when you need to burn the midnight oil.
The Anglepoise Fifty is now available in a blazing red, but the clear and orange options look just as well appeasing. For a bit more than £33, the designer classic could be yours.
