Blue Frog: Warehouse to Lounge!

squareserie blue frog xxx

Mumbai is space starved so it is but natural that large warehouses become experimental grounds for architectural transformations. Blue Frog is an attempt at transforming a large industrial warehouse, located in the old mill district in Mumbai, into an acoustic lounge and a complex of recording studios. The transformation converts the warehouse into a restaurant, bar and a live stage. The organization of all the elements is cellular; circular arrangement being made in the form of a horse-shoe. The central stage is accessible form all the booths that encircle it. This has been accomplished by arranging booths (capable of seating 4-10 people) at varying heights – ascending as one moves away from the stage. The cylindrical booths – capable of changing color – are designed to maintain some semblance of privacy and diners are placed at constant distance from each other regardless of the level of crowd that is in. The state-of-the-art lighting is matched by an equally effective sound system. To make sure that loud noises stay within, walls have bumpy materials that absorb sound.
