I really don’t like things that can put a number to my flawed frame’s stats. And the measuring tape comes only second to the weighing scale on my list of daily use things I find the most repelling. But I like what Swiss-born multidisciplinary designer and artist Chrissy Angliker did with the girth-finder. The Pratt Institute gradate used the tape to design quirky lampshades that strangely enough make me feel like I have to go to school in the morning! The graphic pendant lamps are cleverly done and you really have to applaud the designer for her ingenuity though I have to admit the numbers on the tape are starting to unnerve me!
