Weird structures a necessity in space-starved Tokyo

The price of real estate in world’s metros went through the roof a log time back. Japanese capital Tokyo is no exception. The bustling city teems with millions of humans and needless to say, plots for building are really hard to come by. It would be naïve to expect a square plot to build your dream house. Instead you must be content with whatever space that you do manage to find.As the pics in this post exhibit, the land remains a prized commodity and people have resorted to building weird structures on whatever shaped plots they can purchase after paying through their noses. The buildings usually take form of weird rectangular box-like structures that just grow out of nothing. The base is very small and yet the houses tower to monolith grotesque structures. But we find them kinda cute. At least people innovate instead of living like bums on streets. And the really weird thing is that despite having so small an entrance that native sumos would never get inside, the buildings manage to retain parking space for a smallish vehicle.
