Genome X 2.0 car reads the actions of driver with layered surfaces

British designer Tabitha Purathur has come up with a futuristic car dubbed the “Genome X 2.0” that touts modified interiors to reflect the modern lifestyle while making use of the advances in technology. Intelligent gesture-based sensors work to make the driver’s experience better, as layered surfaces read the driver’s actions, “unfolding new spaces like a Blooming Flower.” Since these systems are constantly in touch with the driver’s gestures, they are capable of controlling in-car systems like lighting and temperature. The surface is capable of interacting with the user to suit his needs, and the material covering the gull-wing doors can collapse for easier entrance or exit from the vehicle. This is made possible by the use of Rapid Manufacturing Materials, these flexible volume structures, or collapsible structures are Electro-activated Polymers (EAPs) that stiffen when electric charge is passed through them.
