HomenKollen Ski Jump: A ribbon to adorn Oslo’s skyscape

Julien De Smedt, is one architect for whom the thin line between fantasy and reality just doesn’t exist, atleast I presume so. Doubters may take a look at the picture. This mega structure is the HomenKollen Ski Jump that rises straight up into the sky in the form of a shimmering white ribbon. Awesome. Mind you! This is not just a concept, it is all set to adorn the Skiing World Championship to be held in 2011 at Oslo, as Julien has been commissioned to build this magnificent Ski Jump for the same. The Ski Jump design basically aims to follow the jumper’s descent to provide the vital wind protection. On top, you have a jumper’s deck, a lounge and a viewing deck – an elevator will lead both jumpers and visitors there. By the looks of it, i think that HomenKollen Ski Jump will have more visitors enraptured by it’s stunning form than ski jumpers itself. On the whole, the HomenKollen is an outrageous work of art that will surely become a major tourist attraction in Oslo. Check out more images in picture gallery after jump.
