With the space tourism industry heating up, we are sure to see some great product designs and services intended for use in space. Here is one neat concept for chess lovers – the ZeroGrav chess set that could be used in zero gravity. The pieces are made of acrylic and they fix to the board using Velcro during the game, and when not in use, they lie flat on the board. The design addresses the problem of a game with multiple pieces being played in zero gravity. The emphasis of the design was to create a chess set that also appeals to a non-chess player. I am a big lover of the game, but I won’t ever waste my time playing a chess game in zero gravity. Moreover, it’s just a concept and we know most of the concepts always remain concepts.
