IRobot has been an undisputed ruler of robotic vacuums since it launched the first Roomba automated vacuum cleaner in 2002. Those were the good old days, and it’s time to pull their socks up, for we have another vacuum cleaner that can clean your floors and carpets quickly and efficiently with just a push of a button. Hailed as “Neato XV-11,” the latest vacuum cleaner comes with a “Room Positioning System” that makes use of a laser vision to map the floor space, allowing a 360-degree view of a room (within a 4-meter range) to avoid obstacles. Capable of working with both hardwood floors and carpets, the Neato cleans in a precise back-and-forth movement and just measures four inches in height to slip under beds, couches and other fissures with minimum fuss. Moreover, you may program the XV-11 to clean and return to its dock after cleaning or to recharge its batteries. Priced at $400, the Neato XV-11 will reach the market by February 2010.
