Drawing inspiration from traditional ornaments, Japanese architectural firm Unitydesign teaming up with Starburstar has come up with a unique proposal to design an “Exploratory Science Museum of Unicamp” on the campus of the Campinas University in Brazil. Entitled “Necklace,” the structure makes use of the management of natural sources for air conditioning, ventilation, illumination and dehumidification. Comprising the porous loop or chain and discrete volumes, depicting the valuable stones of the necklace, the structure also features a double bricked porous loop wall to structure the exterior circulation space between exhibition spaces, allowing visitors to walk freely around the building.
