NMDA has proposed an interesting and unique design for a small tower in Shanghai. The proposed architecture is an example of a new approach to design, one that the entire nation would seek to emulate. NMDA’s project is a four storey mini-tower that covers an area of 585 square meters. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in the façade. The building will house one single three story bar/restaurant and have an intricate terrace on the roof. The design is meticulous and strong and yet provides for economy. The simple steel frame building has aluminum and glass storefront system. A screen system of superformed aluminum panels is attached to a back up frame in front of exposed slab edges. It is this fact that gives the building its characteristic look. The building forms a part of a larger plan to build numerous small commercial establishments in Shanghai. Also proposed is a pedestrian canal that’ll run around these establishments. The tower by NMDA would be completely in harmony with the new surroundings that it will form a part of.
