Obsidian unfolds for a multi-media screen

obsidian 01
Sponsored by Vestel, the “Obsidian” by a bunch of designers, including Deniz Altuntaş, Gamze Ekin, Başak Haznedaroğlu and Can Mehmet Uyanik from Middle East Technical University, is a multi-media screen that works via internet connection. Users can watch TV, listen to music and make conference calls with it. The Obsidian can simultaneously be used for different purposes, while one user listens to music, the other may watch TV or make a conference call. Cool! Users can have their own account while using the Obsidian. Computing members’ taste of music, movies, games or TV shows, the Obsidian gives suggestions to them accordingly.

Featuring a screen finished with FOLED (Flexible Organic Light Emitting Device), the Obsidian’s flexible structure enables it to be rolled inside the shell and be hidden when closed, for FOLED does not lose its characteristics when deformed. User can easily reach the menu of the Obsidian easily through a remote control, but it also has an extra touchscreen control panel on the main body. There is an adjustable camera at the top-right to be used for conference calls. The remote control and the Bluetooth headphones are charged on the dock, which is a separate part.
