Introducing the Sanya City of Hainan Province in China as an international tourism destination, Beijing-based MAD Architects has developed an island surrounded by the sea that will be connected by a 395-meter-long bridge with the main island. Entitled the “Phoenix,” the man-made island measuring about 1250-meters in length and 350-meters width will provide around 500,000 sqm of building area offering a luxury retreat for the visitors from all across the world. Due to complete by 2014, the Phoenix Island will include six luxury apartment buildings, a five-star hotel, conference center and a signature seven-star hotel. The island will also feature domestic and international ferry terminals.
