Recycled Capillair raises curiosity with its unusual design

Unusual appearance of Capillair raises a point of curiosity among those who observe it. Capillair is actually a modular piece of furniture designed by Dutch interior designer Carolijn Slottje. Its remarkable form is inspired from the biological cell structure. The design uses bunches of tiny tubes wrapped in rubber panels and positioned in different sizes of capillair cells made from various recyclable or recycled materials like felt and rubber. The tiny tubes lend transparency to the furniture thereby enhancing its aesthetic appeal. Capillair’s ability to reduce and expand makes it very suitable for storage in interiors with strict structural building parameters and space shortage. It has been designed by a group of four designers from Netherlands who showcased prototypes of their latest work at DMY International Design Festival Berlin 2010.
