Winning entry at the World Architecture Festival in the holiday category in Barcelona, the “Restaurant Tusen” by Swedish firm Murman Arkitekter is a ski resort on a small hill where the tree line meets the mountains. Located in Ramundberget, Sweden, the ski resort features a facade finished in huge birch logs, taken from the surrounding forests, to protect the structure from the Nordic icy winds. Both the exterior and interior of the restaurant are made of the same material, giving it an inside-out appearance, while the circular design hoards the snow on the facade. The cold wind of the mountain passes through the structure, which forms a protected outdoor space to give a panoramic view of the ice clad hills and mountains.
