Solar vaccine fridge gets medication to remote areas

Extensive medication has always remained a distant dream in far flung areas of Africa as well as Asia due to the scant (rather no) electricity required for refrigeration of vaccines, resulting in undue fatalities during urgent situations. Providing an innovative solution to the problem of the rough terrain, designer Ryan Sorrell, currently doing his BA (Hons) in Product & Furniture Design at London’s Kingston University, has designed a portable aid fridge dubbed “Solar Vaccine Fridge” that can easily be transported across the remote areas, allowing immediate vaccination in crunch situations. In addition, the mobile fridge integrating solar panels on top helps in sustaining the environment by producing green electricity.
