Sub-Biosphere 2: Self-sustaining underwater city for the future

sub 1

British designer Phil Pauley, drawing inspiration from the Biosphere 2 project in the USA, has developed an aquatic habitat that can sustain life on its own. The “Sub-Biosphere 2,” as the designer calls the underwater city, is fully equipped to sustain all the life support systems, including air, water, food, electricity and so on. Comprising eight submersible biomes surrounding a large central biome that apart from supporting life also serves as a seed bank, the self-sustaining habitat can either float on top of the water or submerge in the ocean bed, allowing the inhabitants as well as visitors to enjoy the rich and vivid marine live.
