Developing a community-based interaction between the creation of music and the community, designer Matthew Hoffman has devised a mobile recording studio or a platform that helps in transportation of the culture, interaction between the mobile unit (visual and auditory) and the broadcast of that interaction. The “BET,” as the designer calls his Jump Box, works as a mobile concert venue with integrated staging and sound-system, accentuating the bond between hip-hop music and urban culture. Featuring a compact, affordable, customizable and sustainable urban environment capable of quick shipment, the Jump Box also boasts technological integration based on the open source standards and web ordering.

The mobile recording studio allows space for up to four performers within the recording space and detaches mixing tables to form freestanding units, while wings and roof unfold to become an elevated stage equipped with audio and lighting. In short, the BET is an exploration into a highly flexible form of architecture resulting from the increasingly mobile technologies.
