Bouwkunde building hugs basic elements of modern education

Replacing the Department Bouwkunde (which burned last year), at Tu Delft University, Netherlands, Monolab Architects has come up with a new structure that drawing inspiration from basic elements of the modern education and construction, i. e. sustainability, education, urbanism and architecture, forms an unusual “triple landscape.” The first landscape of the structure connects with the context on ground level and the second is elevated upside down, while the third makes an outdoor archipelago on the roof surface. Designing spaces like rooms and laying out furniture (bookshelves and desks) takes the form of clouds and hills respectively, and this unusual pattern runs through the whole project. The structure also features an Epi-center at the heart, which comes into being with studio spaces divided into small cell-like clusters. Putting sustainability at the forefront, the façade of the structure is finished with glass that not just allows maximum use of natural light, but also lets the space to feel fluid and connected to the exterior.
