The Concrete Kitchen by Dutch designer Thomas Linssen may not be much more functional than the regular kitchen counter top, but its fabric-cast concrete will certainly make it stand out more. The mold is made from tough synthetic fabric, with a plastic lining to prevent the fabric from getting sealed into the wet concrete. The use of fabric gives the unit smooth flow lines, and also gives the bulge on the base of the structure. The use of fabric also means that every unit of the Concrete Kitchen produced will be unique, and can be customized to specific patterns.
