Having seen my fair share of crazy chairs this year, I thought the designs entered at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) might bring some respite to my boggled mind. Unfortunately, the jurors of the 2008 Wilsonart Chair Competition at the event were in a rater playful mood and wanted to be wowed out with a truly modern creation. The winning entry created by designer Eric MacDonald, did not disappoint them either. Adapting similar shape into new dimensions, the chair draws heavily upon the Wilsonart sample chip to create the rather uncomfortable looking segmented seat, back and arm rests, demonstrating how sucking up to the sponsors can really take you places at such dos.
