How about bringing in a coffin to your living room? Though it might sound a little too extreme for you, it doesn’t seem so for design student Charles Constantine. So he has put together this coffee table shaped like a coffin called the Memento Coffee Table Casket. And like it’s name suggests, this very weird piece of living room furniture will serve as your very own coffin when you’re gone. Charles has even gone a step further to design this coffee table with it’s top four panels that closely resemble the Egyptian mummification process. How’s that for inspiration?
While you’re alive and kicking, you can enjoy zillions of cups of coffee over this coffee table and you can also store plenty of knick knacks as this coffee table packs in a whole lot of storage space in it’s belly. In an effort to bring this coffee table/coffin closer to mother nature, Charles has even designed it with a base that is open to the elements which will make sure that you become one with the earth very soon, after you are buried. That’s what I call total biodegradability. Though the Memento Coffee Table Casket is one very functional piece of living room furniture, almost everybody would be too spooked by it to ever consider buying one for their living rooms.
