La Ville Intelligente is an innovative orange metallic open structure that has been conceptualized and built by Jakob and Macfarlane. This unique structure is actually an ensemble of pre-tensioned Ferrari canvas and tubular steel rods that have been cleverly joined together to create an exquisite outer shell. La Ville Intelligente was originally developed for the Helldemain exposition and is at present temporarily on display inside the Parc de la Villette of Paris.
This multiple-entry open structure is a part of Orange’s (the telecom company) brand ‘DNA’ that depicts a futuristic and technologically advanced urban Paris welcoming people from all directions (hence the structure has many entry points) and functioning as a complete entity comprising of an expansive network . La Ville Intelligente actually visualizes urban Paris as having turned into a futuristic metropolis, wherein people are simultaneously entering new, exiting spaces to experience a huge flow (to and from) of energies . The main system of future Paris is well-connected with arteries forming the new urban network, peripheries and streets places to rediscover a new urban map.
The structure is basically made out of steel tubes that are coated with orange enamel forming the outer framework. The interior has the same bright orange colored canvas that is tightly attached beneath the metallic grid, which contains a number of pavilions. La Ville Intelligente is a futuristic concept with a brilliant design that is simple in outlook but futuristic in approach an extremely thought-provoking!
