Making its entry for a competition co-sponsored by Arquitectum and Universitas Pelita Harapan in Indonesia, the Marine Research Center is an offshore research center inspired by the form of a tsunami wave. Designed by Solus4, the research center is aimed for providing space for study and research in the beautiful location of Kuta Beach in Bali. The offshore marine center stands in an area of about 2,500 sq m and looks pleasing in its colossal white structure. The center is designed just not for research, but also to enjoy the ocean environment, and so it has been furnished with large windows.

Apart from viewing the scenic beauty, the underwater viewing room gives the opportunity to study aquatic life as well. Not only this, the center is also capable of producing its own power and clean water. Electricity is generated using tidal generators, whereas solar passive and energy efficient design curtails the use of energy. And the good news is that the scientists from all over the world can study tsunamis by residing in the living quarters designed for them. In addition, for better research work, the center is provided with research labs, a seawater pool, an aquatic garden library and an auditorium.
