Parasite Seat by Simone Brewster

parasite seat
You know it’s exactly things like these that make me wonder why we don’t have a crazy chair blog! This is another one of those art pieces that claim to be “chairs” or “furniture”. Since the thing is called the Parasite Seat, I suspect that the inviting, secure, traditional, four-legged white chair in the exhibit is not what the designer wants us to place our behinds on. Even the two legs that are actually attached to the Parasite are long, thin and crooked. It’s a great show piece for galleries and modern art museums and personally I wouldn’t think twice about blabbering out a flood of symbolic interpretations for this innovative design if I saw it in a gallery. But truth be told I really, really prefer my furniture to be functional, and frankly designs like these give me nightmares!
