With our towns and cities being increasingly bogged down by big concrete structures, lack of greenery in public spaces is certainly a cause for concern. But since growing and sustaining green covers in these modern spaces may not be as feasible, the need for design elements based on eco-friendly techniques becomes essential. This is where biomimcry comes in and a brilliant implementation of the technology can be seen in the Parasolar green public seating concept created by industrial designer Parth Sharma. Based on the design of blossoming flowers, the Parasolar uses solar panels integrated in the design’s pivoted shades that open and close according to sunlight to power the structure and with in-built rain sensors, can also act like an automated rain shelter. The structure itself houses various interactive and educational elements including an OLED visual display that displays info regarding many sustainability related issues furthering the environmental cause of the project.
