For most of us, the word reception area conjures up an image of a glossy desk, a lovely face behind it, a bunch of chairs and other run-of-the-mill things. But, that’s not the case with the Re(Birth)Ception. This art project by Bosch & Fjord for Copenhagen Properties sees reception as a place for interaction between visitors. The Re(Birth)Ception is much more than an usual reception desk. It’s an interactive art project that takes in meeting activities. The furniture, designed for this unique reception, comes in the form of square white shapes and pillars in different sizes and heights, with red organic-formed carvings, which create a meeting landscape for visitors. Red holes in diverse shapes have been cut out in the many sculptural shapes and they create spots where a visitor can place a part of his/her body. These tight square shapes could be taken as some kind of human magnets, which offers an opportunity meet in new ways. The visitors can change their positions as according to their liking.

Moreover, these functional pieces can be taken from one room to another to create a new meeting area. The Re(Birth) design is at the same time a physical object, an active area and a symbol. Well, everything about the Re(Birth)Ception looks great, be it the design or the idea behind the same, but then, do you think you will be at ease with such furniture? Not me, at least!
