On an average day how much attention would you normally pay to a bunch of old, discarded tyres? Not that much I’m guessing unless you want to take a few home and hang them to a tree as a makeshift swing for the kids! But a few designers out there are trying to reintegrated these wasted rubber tyres back into mainstream usage by crafting them into handy tableware. By cutting the tyres in five equal parts, the designers ensure that none of the tyre parts are wasted. Then by painting them into vibrant hues and using a metal frame as a stand, they can be used as book holders, egg and fruit baskets or for holding whatever else you might need to put in a basket or a bowl! Associating environment education and creativity inducement, the recycled rubber tyre can also serve as a social product that can aid in income generation for communities that can produce these pieces for commercial retailing!
