Solar Sanctuary offers free universal communicative solution

Utilizing the new technology to harness natural resources, British designer Alexander Williams has come up with a sustainable installation called the “Solar Sanctuary” for public spaces that apart from providing a universal communicative solution also helps in sustaining the urban environment. Featuring the main canopy skeleton made in stainless steel and a thin composite sheet umbrella canopy clad in solar panels, the urban focal point also includes rotational molded PE planter and base unit to seat passengers in comfort. Offering shelter from sun or rain to the passersby, the Solar Sanctuary allows complete connectivity across platforms through a free wireless signal that runs on solar energy accumulated by photovoltaic panels located on the roof, while the rainwater is used to water the plants in the planter.
