Designed by Sarah Waxman, the “Storm Evasion Vehicle” is an experimental transportation design geared toward the high-adrenaline world of storm chasing. Its unique spherical back wheel turns on a dime and eliminates the concept of “backing up,” becoming helpful in the split-second situations to which the storm chasers get exposed. The steering mechanism takes the form of a foot pedal, freeing the user’s hands to operate camera system and/or other equipment. Designed to meet the daring lifestyle of the storm chasers, the vehicle allow the chasers to keep track of each other easily during the chaotic situations. The Storm Evasion Vehicle introduces a new way of thinking about transportation design and answers the call for a design that dares to stand on its own.
