Monopoly is a dirty word in a capitalist world and till now Segway was abusing the word to the T. Not that we were complaining but its healthy to have some competition; it really improves the after-sales service, if you know what I mean! Toyota Winglet hopes to take on the world of personal transport in a big way. It works on similar principles as the Segway, meaning you need to shift your body weight to maneuver it. Specs-wise Winglet’s body has a 10.4 x 18-inch footprint and stands 1.5-, 2.2-, or 3.7-feet tall, which is proportionate to the model chosen; Small, Medium, or Large. It features an electric motor that touches max 6km/h cruising speed for up to 10km a time; and only 5km for the S model. Although it will be almost 2010 by the time this transporter goes into commercial production, prototypes of the vehicle are being tested in Japan.
