Timepieces or clocks with a wide range of designs have always been a popular area of experimentation for designers. Drawing inspiration from the visual and acoustic excellence of porcelain, designer Georgios Maridakis has come up with an innovative clock that looks more like a piece of art than a clock. Dubbed “Vase Clock,” the timepiece by the Greek designer tells the hour by tapping the surface of the vase with an adjustable wooden hammer. Finished in copper, porcelain and wood, the Sevres Vase Clock makes use of a variety of vases to produce different chimes that eventually break after receiving constant beating from the hammer.
