Teaming up with the Mechanical Engineering Department at the UofA, designer Josefina Chaves-Posse has come up with a unique wheelchair called “Zenith” that offers the user complete independence, control and security in an manner never experienced before. Intended toward an independent user who is active, fit and motivated to explore new horizons, the radical wheelchair moves on all-terrain tracks and allow the user freedom of movement wherever he or she likes.

Featuring a seat finished in carbon fiber with a light aluminum back frame, the new wheelchair, drawing inspiration Herman Miller office chairs that offers the best in ergonomics and back support, is not only good to look at but easy to control as well. Developed in collaboration with Adam Wood, Geoff Samuel, Mike Lambert and Lee Birkett, the Zenith is a manually powered wheelchair with stair climbing capabilities that embarks a new era in wheelchair technology.
