5 Fascinating Tech Innovations of 2021

Samsung's Bot Handy

Technological progress never stops. People always find new innovative ways of improving the lives of those around them. Thanks to them phones turned into portable computers in less than 20 years. TVs are now 15 times thinner and there is internet in almost all corners of the world.

The passing year saw the release of some pretty great technological innovations; from smart robotic assistants to almost transparent TVs, and other consumer electronics. It would be a shame not to talk about them. Take a look at some of the greatest tech innovations of 2021.

1. Samsung’s Digital Cockpit

Autonomous vehicles have been in the public eye for a couple of years now. Sooner or later the technology will get tuned to perfection and there will be no more car accidents. When that happens, the interior of cars can change drastically. In the future, they can look more like living rooms on the road. Samsung’s Digital Cockpit envisions this future.

The interior of this futuristic cockpit is designed for maximum entertainment. Samsung wants to put a 49-inch QLED display near the steering wheel. It will have a surround sound system. They also want to put several screens all around the vehicle. That way passengers will be able to catch a movie or finish their work while the car drives itself.

For example, a teacher can use downtime to look up rules for running a virtual classroom or checking the students’ assignments. And students would be able to work on their upcoming tests or communicate with their friends in transit. Overall, it’s a great time-saver for both academic and entertainment purposes.

The screens will come equipped with various tools. Passengers will have access to video calls, games, streaming services, and other things. Samsung also envisions the interior displays showing information about passenger health.

This will be done through their new service called Automotive Samsung Health. The system analyzes the stress level and health status of passengers before boarding.

2. Razer’s Project Hazel

With the world still in the grip of a global pandemic, many companies want to improve on the concept of a facemask. Razer decided to make its mark with Project Hazel. The company describes this product as the world’s smartest mask. It has N95 medical-grade protection and its Smart Pods can filter around 95% of air particles.

The mask is designed so that a person’s face will still be visible through it. Razer understands that ordinary masks tend to muffle the voice of their wearer. That is why Project Hazel will have a built-in voice amplifier. Designers also promise rechargeable and replaceable ventilators.

Of course, a Razer product wouldn’t be complete without RGB lighting that is fully customized. This is a great example of how innovative design can be used for health purposes. There is currently no information about when this product will hit the shelves.

3. Samsung’s Bot Handy

Everybody dreams of a future where robotic helpers will take over the chores. Today help mostly comes from smart devices connected to the internet of things. But, customers may get actual robotic helpers sooner than later. Samsung’s Bot Handy device may be a step in this direction.

Currently, Bot Handy looks like a tall black and white robot with two digital eyes. Their expression changes when it moves around the house. A single attached arm moves on three joints: shoulder, elbow, and wrist.

The machine uses advanced AI. It helps Bot Handy interact with items of various weights, shapes, and sizes. The robot recognizes the difference between the material composition of objects. That way Bot Handy uses appropriate pressure to grab and move items around the household.

Samsung engineers promise that the machine will be able to:

  • Load the dishwasher
  • Set the table
  • Pour liquid into glasses
  • Pick up the laundry

Currently, there is no word on when Bot Handy becomes a real product. The company does have a tendency to announce futuristic robots and keep quiet on them for a time.

4. TCL’s Scrollable Display

Talk about combining ancient and modern tech. Despite the device still being a concept, it looks incredible. The Chinese company TCL clearly took inspiration from the scrolls of ancient dynasties. As a result, they came up with a 17-inch display that looks futuristic and old at the same time.

The device uses injected printing tech. It unravels like a paper map that is gossamer thin. The engineers want to make the 0.18mm thick display come out from two pieces holding it in place. Flexible displays have been around for quite some time. But, there has never been an attempt to use them like this.

The main issue is not the screen itself. It’s difficult to put a fully-functional device in a tube form with a mechanism to scroll the display.  Developers will have to be very creative to beat this problem. Still, the scrollable display looks amazing and it would be great to see it in action.

5. LG’s Transparent TV

It seems that progress in TV set technology has reached a dead-end. They said the same when TV first appeared. LG may have set the new trend which will define television in decades to come.  This may be the biggest thing since the creation of flat-screen TVs.

The company has turned everybody’s attention to their two new screens. The first one is a new 55-inch OLED Transparent TV. As the name implies, the set looks like a transparent mirror a person can look through. The display is not present all the time.

When the set is inactive, the display moves back into its docking section. It is implied that users can regulate how much the display is showing. The device looks cool but brittle and the only place for it may be next to a wall.

LG developers claim that the display will be 40% transparent. They want to use this tech for homes, stores, shopping malls, autonomous vehicles, planes, and subway trains.

Conclusion

2021 was a great year for technology. There is a potential for all the concepts companies showed. But, there is a small chance any of them will see the light of day in the foreseeable future. When they do come out, they will be true game-changers in their perspective fields.
