Alight helps incapacitated people to board, de-board from airplanes

Alight Wheelchair

According to a recent legislation policy, a compulsion has been laid for all airplanes to have on-board devices for incapacitated people. This would lead not only to a lot of convenience for everyone, but also enable people with disabilities to use the flight facilities conveniently. Keeping this concept in mind, and basing his product idea around it, designer Matthew Dawber came up with the idea of Alight.

With the basic amenities in place, Dawber enabled the common wheelchair to be revamped and created to cater the people’s convenience. Alight has been built with a hubless wheel, while keeping in mind the product’s weight, ease of use, maneuverability, visual style and convenience. The main reason for hubless wheels is simply to remove any kind of obstacles from the user’s paths and to further avoid chances of spokes getting stuck during boarding and de-boarding.

Having incorporated a unique wheelchair design into his product, Matthew hopes to be able to provide some relief to his wheelchair’s users. Bearing all the needs and turning the idea into a concept, he is hoping for Alight to be a success and a necessity which shall be placed in all airplanes.
