Doomsday survival suit to save you from nuclear casualties

Doomsday

A nuclear disaster is regarded as one of the deadliest tragedies we can ever face. Given the recent Japanese catastrophe, the awareness towards such situations have been definitely increased. People have started to wake up to the disasters caused by nuclear substances. Along with awareness, there is also a growing urge among various sectors to build facilities to arm or shield when such situations strike. It may sound as being highly paranoid or mildly insane but actually there is nothing wrong in being safe than sorry. Young designers have come up with quirky solutions and one of the most outstanding of these is the design by Kevin Wong called “Doomsday.”

Doomsday is the robot-shaped survival suit intended to guard you from radiation leak due to damaged nuclear power stations. The body of the robotic structure protects the occupant from any sort of radiation. It is more like an armor suite cum mobile van that unfurls into a bed. It also includes solar panels to power electrical devices contained in the van for the user’s conveniences during radioactive fallout. This wheeled mobile unit, armed with basic facilities to face radioactive situations, looks quirky but might prove to be very handy in case of a nuclear disaster.

Radioactive fallout is a particulate matter or just outcome of a nuclear explosion. The smaller and lighter dust-like particles however takes some time as they flow much farther down, often, for hundreds of kilometers. This radioactive “dust” is dangerous because it emits radiation energy that can penetrate through walls, roofs and protective clothing.

Even if you manage not to inhale or ingest the dust and keep it off your skin, hair and clothes, the radiation penetrating your home is still extremely dangerous, which can still affect or even kill you. The only way to stop this can be covering yourself with a body protection suit made of high density material.
