Anna Marinenko’s Japan Clock is a worthy homage

After the giant tsunami and earthquake hit Japan on March 11, 2011, Anna Marinenko, a designer from Kiev, Ukraine, designed a beautiful clock called Japan Clock as a tribute to those Japanese who lost their lives and property during one of the worst natural disasters in the history. This Japan clock, Anna says, will remind us the sounds of cry and tear of bloods that flooded Japan during the disaster.

Anna said her design was inspired by the Japanese flag, blood drops and circular ripples on the water. That’s why she made a red and white color clock, resembling the flag of Japan. The clock is made of plastic materials.

The clock has a simple design with two circular plates – red and white, one sliding over the other and moving in a circular pattern. The red plate indicates hour and the white the minutes. There is a pointer on the white plate to indicate the minutes where as there is a small slot on the red plate to indicate hour. The Japan clock can also be used to write important notes on it.
