Lexus has built the most advanced driving simulator at its research campus in Higashifuji, Japan to learn more about driving behaviors and then incorporate those findings into new active safety features in their cars. Offering a wider range of motion the domed shaped 15 feet high by 20 feet wide pod has a full size mounted Lexus car by an interactive 360-degree high-definition audio-visual simulation of real world driving environments.
A series of interlocking motion tracks allow the huge pod to move back and forth, and tilt in all directions within a hangar the size of a football stadium. To make it near life experience the simulator also uses different traffic scenarios, text message displays, and other electronic distractions.
