Insight:
A suitable public transport, for the future metropolis, has already taken shape in the form of Mybus. Excuse me for using the term “public transport” as this vehicle seems too big to be described as a personal vehicle. Portuguese designer Nuno Teixeira presented this concept with an aim to upgrade safety for passengers as well as pedestrians. The vehicle also seems to be concerned of the safety of our globe as it is designed to run on electrical energy. Features like electronic stability systems, smart cruise control, brake-by-wire, rear detection systems and smart wing mirrors have earned this concept a winning position at the 2007 Michelin Challenge Design. However, the Michelin ‘Twell’ tires that are protruding sideways on the front may make it difficult to navigate this vehicle through congested roads.

Design status:
Mybus is a smart concept to ease out traveling woes for the times to come.

Usability:
Used as a passenger vehicle, the green Mybus can gain popularity with its safety features. Such an eco-friendly drive can ensure less CO2 emissions per person. If every individual swaps his/her fuel guzzling car for such a green bus, the number of carbon footprints will be erased at faster speed. The designer was also keen to emphasize that the use of alternative energy will help to cut down the chances of explosion in case of an accident.

The safety aspect is implemented by the fact that every wheel carries its own independent motor. This in turn relates to the on board computer that can control the power to supply to them. Road conditions and the pattern of driving will determine supply. The smart system is also tuned to predict an accident as well as gear up to act in response.
