Looking like an uncovered sports car miniature, the Scarper skateboard is a ‘run off the road’ thingamajig. With tank treads instead of the conventional wheels on the bottom, it rolls down to hit speeds upto 28mph (45 km/h). Seasoned skaters can be the only ones with a fair idea of how to work this thing. It is backed by an electric motor and a battery pack, giving it the feel of the latest rage in the speed market i.e. electric cars. Running on similar technology as these electric cars, this skateboard is a ‘jump off the cliff’ kind of invention in skateboarding.
The Scarpar will retail from $2800 to $3800 (USD), but can be reserved for $500 to $600. The cost however may vary in accordance with the strength and capacity of the battery pack. Deemed to be available by December 2011, it is sure to be seen witnessing a serious switch stance or regular footing and what not right on its surface.
