Tilto personal transporter can make Segway a past relic

Tilto personal transporter

Segway might finally be a past relic with the upcoming design of Tilto. A two wheeler personal transportation vehicle, it has been designed by a technophile, Marcelo Farnaso. Tilto, as the name suggests, works on the principle of “tilting wheels.”

Much before Tilto came into existence, Farnaso had always thought of designing a personal transporter by fitting a mountain board on tilting wheels. Designed after a year of research and designing tactics, Tilto’s first street test was conducted in a parking lot on June 12,2011. An electric vehicle, one charge can drive Tilto for 15 km at an impressive top speed of 12mph. The vehicle does not require pedals and steering to be driven and thus leaves more potential for other activities while driving. The vehicle turns left when the rider tilts towards left and similarly with the other directions. When the self balanced vehicle is in still mode, the rider has to bend forward to maneuver it. The tilting feature boosts the maneuverability of the vehicle.

With a borrowed motor and materials easily available in the vicinity comprising the design, the vehicle has been mostly prepared from scratch. Though Tilto would successfully establish itself as every technophile’s dream, it is still stuck in the pre-production stage. There are no plans of rolling it out for production and making it available to the public.
